OUCH!

I love laughing at people when they fall over...obviously not when it is a serious injury but for the minor day to day falls and bumps I simply can not control my laughter...is this wrong?

the Art of ink!

The line between tattoos and art and art and tattoos is forever blurred.

To me an amazing piece of ink is just as beautiful as a wall painting, if not more! The skill it takes to create a long-lasting, jaw dropping design on skin is often harder than it is to create the same image on a canvas. The skin moves, creases and ages in ways a piece of canvas never will.

A defining moment for me was when I was at a music festival and I spotted two kids with the most beautiful tattoos I had ever seen. So beautiful I had to go up to them and look at their arms in detail and get the artists’ name.

Robert Hernandez had inked Jack the Ripper on this boys arm in such a detailed beautiful way I stopped and marvelled at it like it was an American Impressionist painting. It was pure art!

Sex on legs

There is something about sexy long legged chicks that have a bit of bite in them. I love this image for its simple eroticism. It is so evocative with out being tacky! Ellen Von Unwerth is pure brilliance!

Familiarity into unsettling circumstances

Ryden's art depicts Surrealists’ fascination with the subconscious and collective memories. However, he transcends the initial Surrealists’ strategies by consciously choosing subject matter loaded with cultural connotation. His cuddly plush pets, alchemical symbols, religious emblems, primordial landscapes and slabs of meat challenge you with their own oddity.

There is a comforting beauty of his pop-culture references, that are then challenged by their circumstances, and finally transported to the artist’s final intent – a world where creatures speak from a place of childlike honesty about the state of mankind and our relationships with ourselves, each other and our past.

The Antlers - Hospice (2009)

Guitarist and vocalist Peter Silberman wrote this album alone before recruiting the two other members that now make up The Antlers. And he has created an amazing work of striking emotionality. The album deals primarily with loss, and more specifically, losing loved ones, whether to cancer (a primary motif within the album), themselves, or worse... just drifting away. It's rare to come across what is essentially a "concept" album not only good, but so good it's breathtaking. The uncertainness of the melodies create tangible dread, and the lyrics are deft and literary with no pretensions. A powerful album that needs to be listened to wholly to be appreciated.
